Ten things to know about me:

I live in the Florida panhandle. We're about as far away from Miami as we are from Chicago. We also have the best beaches in the world.
My husband and I were engaged in the parking lot of a pizza place because that's where we met. We eat at that same pizza place every Valentine's Day.
My daughter is 4. Her favorite colors are black and yellow, and I love that about her.
I have a 90 lb dog named Hitch who barks every time a delivery truck drives by and thinks my daughter's bed is his. He's also afraid of animals on TV.
We have spent a considerable amount of time building a cardboard fort in our home, and we're currently working on a remodel.
My dad is a cartoonist, game developer, and writer, so I grew up around creativity. I thought it was normal to have professional art supplies at home and that every kid had access to Quark for book reports.
I save almost every book I've ever bought or received. I still have all the novels I was assigned to read in high school and college. Two of my most prized books are my copy of The Outsiders that my parents bought me in 7th grade (I still regret removing the cover for a project) and a tattered copy of Treasure Island that my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Thompson, gave to me. The only time I've parted with books is bringing them to my classroom for my students.
My home office has been described as a "maximalist haven."
I am lucky that I have had the same close friend group since I was a kid. My friend Emily and I met when we were 6 and still talk almost every day. We are also in a YA book club together.
I'm a diehard New Orleans Saints fan. Who dat?
